This was my entry for the ISM Mr. Tamiya Memorial Group Build. Overall it’s a find kit considering its age. Originally molded in 1977, this kit has some great engineering and nice details. The tracks are the rubber band type, though fit together nicely.
I went with the NATO style scheme as I’d never done one before and I wanted to keep everything on the kit from Tamiya. Be it paint, thinner, tools (mostly), pigments, weathering, etc. I even used the heated up screw driver technique to get the tracks together.
Additionally, my goal was to finish this build in minimum time. Overall the build lasted just 7 days, and that included some set backs.
If I were to model this one again, I would paint the rubber on the road wheels prior to putting them on the chassis. I’d also buy some PE gun barrels to really make the model pop.
