This is without a doubt the best museum I’ve ever been to. They seriously did an outstanding job with the artifacts, exhibit design and attention to detail. The Tun Tavern bar is even good!
This is also the only museum I’ve seen that models viscera on the exhibits. It also has a section with a PTSD warning because of how realistic they were trying to make the exhibits.
Located in Triangle, VA

Walking up the building is impressive. Truly a neat building. Down side is no outside drinks to include water bottles. So it’s a bit of a hike to go put your water bottle back into the car.

The foyer has USMC assets from different eras of the Corps. They also have manikins in all the vehicles wearing the appropriate gear.
The COOLEST thing, was the aircraft actually have their chaff/flare buckets loaded! This is a detail that is always left out of most museums I’ve been to. So freaking cool!

Tun Tavern is located upstairs and has good beers and good food. Worth a stop if you’re hungry.

Diorama of the museum.

One of the exhibits is of USMC basic training. They have a 2LT manikin setup and you can guess what’s wrong with his uniform. Hilarious.

This WW1 exhibit went HARD!
