From what I remember this kit wasn’t the best; but, Revell has certainly had worse.
Finished this one up over the holidays. It was meant to be a build just to keep me from not being completely bored while moving house. Ended up turning out nicely (we’re not going to talk about the giant unfilled seam on the belly.) Tried using soot for the gun smoke and exhaust stains. Used the hairspray method for the paint chipping around the cockpit too. Might have over done it on both parts; but, now I know for the future. Being from the good ‘ole USA I’ve really never cared about Spitfires much. This model definitely made me appreciate them. They’re really quite gorgeous in their own British way.
I do remember actually burning matches over a metal dry palette to get soot. Which I then brushed onto the model. I think I figured out pigments exist a short time after.
